Connect to NYMC_SECURE

If you are using Windows

XP

This setup requires you to use Windows Wireless Management feature. Click here to learn how to enable it if its been disabled.

  1. Turn on the wireless device.
  2. Start > Settings > Control Panel > double click Network Connections.
  3. Right Click the wireless device icon and then select properties.
  4. In the Wireless Network Connection window, click Wireless Network Tab.
  5. Place a check mark on Use Windows to configure my wireless network setup.
  6. Click Add in the Wireless Network Properties. In The Network Name (SSID): Enter NYMC_SECURE (All UPPERCASE).
  7. Click The Network Authentication dropdown menu and select: WPA and change Data Encryption to TKIP.
  8. Go to Authentication Tab, click the EAP type: Click dropdown menu and select Protected EAP (PEAP) and uncheck the box for Authentication as computer information available.
  9. Then click Property, and Uncheck Validate Server Certificate.
  10. Click Configure, remove check mark from Automatically use my windows logon name and Password then OK.
  11. Click OK until all wireless network setup windows are closed.
  12. When you see a Wireless Network Connection Pop up window, Click on the message to enter your NYMC Username and Password.
  13. Leave Login Domain field blank.

Vista

  1. Turn on the wireless device.
  2. Right click Network icon on your desktop then Properties.
  3. Select Manage Wireless Network on the left side bar.
  4. Click ADD, and select Manually create a network profile.
  5. In the Network Name enter: NYMC_SECURE (ALL UPPERCASE).
  6. In the Security Type select: WPA-Enterprise and in the Encryption type: Select TKIP (Leave the check mark for Start this connection automatically).
  7. Select Change connection settings.
  8. Then click Security and uncheck Cache user information for subsequent connections to this network.
  9. Click Settings... Remove check mark from Validate Server Certificate box.
  10. Click Configure and remove the check mark next to Automatically use my Windows Logon name and password then click OK on all pop-up windows.
  11. Double click the wireless pop up window saying: Additional information is required to connect to NYMC_SECURE.
  12. Enter Your NYMC logon User name and NYMC Password. Do not type anything in the domain field.
  13. Retype user name and password if first login fail.

Windows 7

  1. Turn on the wireless device.
  2. Right click Network icon on the lower right taskbar then select Open Network and Sharing Center.
  3. Select Manage Wireless Network on the left side bar.
  4. Click ADD, and select Manually create a network profile.
  5. In the Network Name enter: NYMC_SECURE (ALL UPPERCASE).
  6. In the Security Type select: WPA-Enterprise and in the Encryption type: Select TKIP. ( Leave the check mark for Start this connection automatically).
  7. Select Change connection settings.
  8. Then click Security and Uncheck remember my credentials for this connection each time I logged on.
  9. Click Settings...... Remove check mark for Validate Server Certificate.
  10. Click Configure and remove the check mark next to Automatically use my Windows Logon name and password then click OK on all pop-up windows.
  11. Double click the wireless pop up window saying: Additional information is required to connect to NYMC_SECURE wireless.
  12. Enter Your NYMC logon User name and NYMC Password.
  13. Retype user name and password if first login fail.


If you are using Mac OS

Snow Leopard

  1. Click Airport or Wireless radio located in the top-right taskbar.
  2. Select NYMC_SECURE.
  3. Enter your NYMC Username and Password.
  4. Set 802.1X to Automatic and then a place a check mark in the Remember this network.
  5. Press OK
  6. Click Airport or Wireless radio located in the top-right taskbar.
  7. Scroll down and select Open Network Preferences.
  8. In the Network Name dropdown-menu select NYMC_SECURE
  9. In the 802.1X: WPA:NYMC_SECURE Click Connect one time.
  10. Now you can close Network Wireless Setup window.
  11. Enter your NYMC Username and Password (Only if the setup requires the username and password and then click Ok).

Pre Snow Leopard

  1. Click Airport or Wireless radio located in the top-right taskbar.
  2. Select NYMC_SECURE.
  3. Enter your NYMC Username and Password.
  4. Set 802.1X to Automatic and then a place a check mark in the Remember this network.
  5. Leave blank 'Only use this password once'.
  6. Click OK
