Following are two important changes to the Health Care Flexible Spending Account.

Last year the annual limit for the Health Care Flexible Spending Account was reduced from $5,000 to $2,500 effective January 1, 2013.  The IRS confirmed that the $2,500 reduced limit will continue in 2014.  The Dependent Care annual limit remains unchanged at $5,000.

The Health Care Flexible Spending Accounts are becoming more flexible!  New federal guidance permits employees who enroll in the Health Care Account to carry over unused amounts of up to $500 for expenses in the next year, and still contribute up to $2,500 annually.   If you enroll in the Health Care Flexible Spending Account in 2014, you will receive additional information about this new change to the “Use-It or Lose-It Rule”.
