Dr. Tushar Shah is an attending physician at Westchester Medical Center and has faculty appointments at the School of Public Health and the School of Medicine at New York Medical College. Dr. Shah co-directs the Section of Hospital Medicine with Dr. Mumtaz and is a director of the Perioperative Medicine Service since its creation in 2004 at the Westchester Medical Center.
Dr. Shah earned his M.D. from Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, India in 1995. After a year of internship at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Queens, New York he completed his residency training at Westchester Medical Center and since stayed as an attending at the Westchester Medical Center.
Known among surgical and medical residents for his straightforward approach to all three dimensions of residency training – patient care, teaching and research – Dr. Shah is also active in several hospital committees were he champions the trainee physician’s perspective to the hospital administration. A thoughtful critic and ever mindful of the difficulties that residency training poses on young, particularly international, medical graduates Dr. Shah helps them bring out their best during their training.
Dr. Shah lives in Westchester County with his wife and two children and enjoys spending free time biking with them.
