Academic Schedules

 

Resident Training

Each Monday morning there is didactic teaching run by attending physicians which consists of fracture conference, anatomy lab, and lectures. On the 1st, 2nd, and last Mondays of each month, there is multidisciplinary trauma, multidisciplinary spine, and morbidity and mortality conferences, respectively. Also, there are frequent technical skills labs run by the leading orthopedic equipment companies. Tuesday through Friday, there are daily lectures covering topics in different subspecialties. At Stamford Hospital, each Thursday morning there is a morbidity and mortality conference, fracture conference, journal club, or multidisciplinary trauma conference. Each Wednesday morning there is also a hand and upper extremity lecture. In addition to the department's academic schedule, there are many courses and conferences nearby which residents can attend, often at no cost. The department of orthopaedic surgery arranges for residents at each PGY level to attend orthopaedic conferences with all expenses paid.
