Student Research Program
The faculty and EM staff in the department of EM at Metropolitan Hospital Center and Westchester Medical center are most interested in working with medical students interested in participating in clinical research in EM. Students will also be able to observe and work closely with the attending staff at the medical centers and develop a better understanding of EM as a subspecialty.
It is expected that each student will complete the program with the skills necessary to perform literature searches, write research protocols, collect data in a clinical setting and understanding the concepts of validity and statistical significance. Students will be required to attend weekly EM department conferences and research team meetings as scheduled. As this is a multi-site program, the student may be required to travel between facilities for meetings and conferences.
The program will run from June through August and students must be committed to participate for the full 8 week session. At successful completion of the program, the student will receive letters documenting their participating and will be encouraged to continue working with their research team if they so chose.
