BioInc@NYMC Is Expanding
With construction already underway, BioInc@NYMC announced its plans to add an additional 9,500 square feet to the biotechnology incubator in order to make room for up to 20 additional startup companies.
The expansion is expected to be completed just as BioInc prepares to celebrate five years since it first opened its doors. Launched in October 2014 at 7 Dana Road, today the mid-Hudson Valley’s only fully-equipped biotechnology incubator on a health sciences college campus houses nine biomedical startups employing more than 50 people.
“We are filled to capacity and want to meet the growing demand from start-ups looking for space. That’s what’s driving this expansion,” explained Deborah Novick, director of BioInc@NYMC. “We are actively seeking new clients now who can move in by early fall when the renovation will be complete.”
For nearly five years, BioInc@NYMC has brought exceptionally innovative biomedical startup companies to New York Medical College where they have thrived,” said Salomon Amar, D.D.S., Ph.D., vice president of research at NYMC and provost for biomedical research and chief biomedical research officer for Touro College and University System. “With this expansion, we will now be able to attract more tenants into our incubator thereby expanding our ability to help promising biotechnology companies achieve success.”
The BioInc@NYMC expansion will include the addition of:
- Approximately 9,500 square feet of space
- 8-10 new offices of varying sizes
- A new conference room
- New shared-space desks for virtual clients who are not on site full-time
- Collaboration/event space for seminars
- Kitchen area
