Celia S. Freeman, M.B.A., Is Named Assistant Dean for Continuous Quality Improvement and Strategic Planning
Celia S. Freeman, M.B.A., has been appointed assistant dean for continuous quality improvement and strategic planning for the School of Medicine (SOM).
In her new position, she will provide leadership and project management support for critical assignments including accreditation, compliance, continuous quality improvement (CQI) and strategic planning within the SOM.
Ms. Freeman brings more than 25 years of diverse experience in accreditation, strategic planning, marketing, research and grant writing, which she has applied across the medical education continuum. Prior to joining the NYMC community, Ms. Freeman was the director of postdoctoral education and continuing medical education (CME) at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) in Eastern Washington. In this role, she established PNWU’s CME program, supported affiliated residency training programs across five states and served as regional executive director for OPTI-West—the academic sponsor for 20 osteopathic residency training institutions throughout Washington, Oregon, California, and Montana. Prior to that, Ms. Freeman was the regulatory and education specialist for Oregon Health and Science University’s rural family medicine residency program in Klamath Falls, Oreg.

But, a key aspect of accreditation, and one that is sometimes undervalued, is its innate ability to promote continuous quality improvement processes and a culture of CQI. I’m excited to join a dynamic team in the Office of Undergraduate Medical Education and the New York Medical College community and continue to foster that culture.”
Ms. Freeman earned her B.A. in English from the University of Washington and her M.B.A. in marketing from Capella University. She is pursuing her Doctor of Business Administration in Strategy and Innovation through Capella University. She is also a certified training administrator for graduate medical education (C-TAGME) and a certified healthcare continuing professional development professional (CHCP).
