Nicholas S. Janiga, J.D., Is Named Chief Counsel
Nicholas S. Janiga, J.D., has been named chief counsel to New York Medical College (NYMC). He will be responsible for primary representation of the Office of the General Counsel at NYMC through the oversight of the College’s legal affairs and institutional compliance process.
Nicholas S. Janiga, J.D., has been named chief counsel to New York Medical College (NYMC). He will be responsible for primary representation of the Office of the General Counsel at NYMC through the oversight of the College’s legal affairs and institutional compliance process.
Mr. Janiga has more than a decade of experience in higher education law including strategic planning, contracting, creative problem solving, risk mitigation, corporate governance, and regulatory representation as general counsel of an allied health postsecondary institution and as senior educational counsel at Dow Lohnes, PLLC (now Cooley, LLP). He has worked to shape educational policy as an accreditation evaluator, educational lobbyist, and author of regulatory comments. Mr. Janiga earned a B.S. degree from Cornell University and a J.D. degree from the University of Michigan (B.S.) and is a member of the bars of New York and Washington, DC.
Mr. Janiga is a deputy general counsel of the Touro College and University System (TCUS) reporting to System General Counsel Michael Newman, J.D., and Edward C. Halperin, M.D., M.A., NYMC’s chancellor and chief executive officer.
