NYMC and TCDM holds three degree awarding sessions annually, but there is only one formal graduation ceremony per school, known as the Commencement Ceremony. This ceremony typically occurs in May, with diplomas presented on stage. It's essential to indicate your intention to attend the ceremony when applying. For more details about the ceremony, visit our commencement website.

Graduation Fees and Payment Details
- GSBMS and SHSP $200
- M.D. $0 (M.D. graduation fee is included in your general fee)
- TCDM $150
NYMC dual-degree students must pay the fee for both programs. There is no fee for "reapplying".
The graduation fee covers graduation-related services that you receive even if you do not attend the ceremony or complete requirements. If requirements are not met, the fee will not be charged again when you reapply. This non-refundable fee will be applied at the time we process your application and must be paid by the application deadline stated above. Please go into the TouroOne portal to make payment. Failure to pay the fee will create a hold on your student account, preventing registration and the release of your diploma.
Please log into the TouroOne portal to view your student account and make payments. Click on “Financial Services” and then “TouchNet”. Failure to pay the fee will create a hold on your student account, preventing registration and the release of your diploma.
For students pending Financial Aid please review your account balance in TouchNet. If you determine your Financial Aid will cover your balance including this fee you should not make any further payments.
Students graduating in the summer may be approved to walk in the prior May ceremony. Please contact your dean or advisors for more information. Please review the GSBMS Walking at Commencement Policy and the SHSP Participation in Commencement Policy. You can find both policies on the NYMC Policies page. Students who do not have permission to walk may attend the next available ceremony.
Certificate-Seeking Students
New York Medical College awards certificates three times a year. There is no formal graduation (“commencement”) ceremony for certificates.
Students who are already in a certificate program do not need to complete any paperwork to receive their certificate. Once all requirements have been met and the advisor has reviewed and approved the coursework, the Registrar will issue the certificate.
Certificates will be mailed to the permanent address that is in the TouroOne portal within 8 weeks of the formal conferral date. If you do not receive your certificate within 8 weeks, please contact registrar@nymc.edu.
Degree Requirements Completed By | Certificate Conferral Date |
---|---|
End of Summer | Aug 31 |
End of Spring | May 25 |
End of Fall | Dec 31 |
M.P.H. students who wish to add a certificate to their academic program should submit an Application to Add an Advanced Certificate (located on the Registrar’s Forms page) to public_health@nymc.edu at least one semester before completing requirements.
Degree Auditing Tool
Degree Works is a web-based program that enables a student or advisor to easily track academic progress. This tool will show how specific college requirements have been met and what courses can fulfill the requirements that are remaining. Some of the benefits of Degree Works include:
- Helps easily monitor academic progress and what requirements are needed to fulfill degree or certificate completion.
- Displays the fastest and best path to graduation that exists for your degree and your interests.
- Allows you to estimate the number of semesters it will take to graduate, and to view your grades and GPA.
Courses taken outside of your degree requirements must be approved by your advisor or Dean. Such courses will not count towards the completion of your degree and may impact your financial aid eligibility.
Degree Works can be accessed through TouroOne portal via the Academic Tab. If you think a requirement is incorrect, please contact registrar@nymc.edu.
