SOM Course Registration

The TouroOne Portal will be your online hub as an NYMC student, linking you to your email account, student services (online registration, payment, financial aid), and academic resources (course content within the LCMS+ learning management system, library resources), and much more.

First Year Medical Students

The Registrar’s Office is required to have an official copy of the final transcript for each degree you previously earned. These documents are not forwarded to us by AMCAS. Please ensure NYMC has all of your final transcripts by submitting official document(s) to registrar@nymc.edu or:

1. Log in to the TouroOne Portal

2. Click the Registration on left blue sidebar

3. Click Add/Drop Classes. (This will open as a new tab in your browser.)

4. For the Fall semester: Select Fall [current year]. In the Add Classes Worksheet, type the following CRNs (course reference numbers) into the boxes. You must put in all of them at once.

  • 15861: Transition to Medical School
  • 15864: Fundamental Principles of Life

5. Click Submit Changes.

6. The screen will refresh and you’ll now see these courses under “Current Schedule

7. Make sure you see all your courses under “Current Schedule

Make sure you’ve reviewed the health services requirements found in the SOM incoming health services packet.

Second Year Medical Students

1. Log in to the TouroOne Portal

2. Click the Registration on left blue sidebar

3. Click Add/Drop Classes. (This will open as a new tab in your browser.)

4. For the Fall semester: Select Fall [current year]. In the Add Classes Worksheet, type the following CRNs (course reference numbers) into the boxes. You must put in all of them at once.

  • 15865: Systems 2 Cardiorespiratory
  • 15866: Systems 3 Renal Repro Endo

5. Click Submit Changes.

6. The screen will refresh and you’ll now see these courses under “Current Schedule

7. Make sure you see all your courses under “Current Schedule”

Third Year Medical Students

Required Courses

Prior to third year students entered their rotation preferences in the OASIS lottery system. A sequence and site lottery is run for each term and students are informed of their schedules in late March. Swapping of rotations occurs within the OASIS system until mid-May, at which time the Registrar’s Office officially enrolls students in their 7 required rotations plus any other required courses (e.g. “Transition to Clerkships”). After OASIS closes all changes must go through Student Affairs.
To view your official schedule:

  1. Log in to the TouroOne Portal and click Registration on the left blue sidebar 
  2. Click the Student Detail Schedule link
  3. Select the appropriate Term and click Submit

Register for Electives

Third year students enter their elective preferences in the OASIS lottery system. Electives should be scheduled during open blocks. To register for your elective:

  1. During Open Enrollment refer to the Year 3 Elective Catalog in LEO to select your electives.
  2. Follow instructions as emailed by the Office of Student Affairs to enter your elective preferences in the OASIS lottery system.
  3. After Open Enrollment closes, please contact Student Affairs at msastaff@nymc.edu to make any adjustments to your schedule.

Fourth Year Medical Students

Required Courses

Prior to the fourth year, students entered their track-required rotation preferences in the OASIS lottery system. A lottery is run and students are informed of their schedules. Swapping of rotations occurs by contacting Student Affairs, after which time the Registrar's Office officially enrolls students in their assigned coursework (including other required courses such as "Transition to Residency"). To make further changes to your required rotations, please contact Student Affairs at msastaff@nymc.edu.
To view your official schedule:

  1. Log in to the TouroOne Portal and click Registration on the left blue sidebar 
  2. Click the Student Detail Schedule link
  3. Select the appropriate term and click Submit

Register for Electives

Registering for “Home” Electives (offered at NYMC or its affiliated sites)

  • During Open Enrollment refer to the 2024-2025 Year 4 Elective Catalog in LEO to select your electives.
  • Follow instructions as emailed by the Office of Student Affairs to enter your elective preferences in the OASIS lottery system.
  • When open enrollment closes, please email Student Affairs at msastaff@nymc.edu with your questions.

Registering for “Away” Electives (at non-NYMC affiliated sites)

  • Apply (through VSLO or the host institution’s procedure) and receive approval to participate in an elective. Additional details can be found in the 4th year elective catalog. Be sure to collect your evaluator's e-mail address. 
  • Use the Away Elective Form found on the forms page so the Registrar’s Office can enroll you in the elective.
  • Repeat with additional electives.

Dropping "Home" or “Away” Courses

  • After open enrollment closes in OASIS, contact Student Affairs at msastaff@nymc.edu to make any schedule adjustments.

Common Errors & Tips

  • Coreq error: Be sure you are submitting all of the CRNs at one time.  Also double-check that you’ve entered the CRNs correctly.
  • Can’t log in to the portal: See the email you received from Admissions for instructions. Please reference that email to find your TouroOne ID number (starting with “T”).
  • Registration hold: Contact the office designated. Once off hold, return to register.
