A Career in Medical or Industrial/Pharma Laboratories Starts with Our CLS Master's Program

Clinical Laboratory Scientists are at the heart of clinical care. A CLS performs diagnostic tests that monitor treatments and uncover new disease states, and as such are in continuous communication with physicians and the medical community, working to improve patient care and treatment outcomes.

The mission of our CLS Master's program is to provide an atmosphere of excellence, scholarship, and professionalism in order to impart the knowledge and technical skills necessary to become a proficient clinical laboratory scientist. Our goal is to prepare each student to qualify for the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) exam for national certification and/or individual state CLS licensure exam and successfully secure an entry-level position in a Medical Institution. To this end, we are:

Effective: Upon graduation, nearly 100% of students who attempt it receive certification and have job placements. Our combination of hands-on experience, exceptional academics and emphasis on compassionate care prepares our graduates for career success.
Practical: Students following our CLS curriculum will complete training in clinical laboratory locations during the day and classroom coursework on the NYMC campus in the evening in one year. After successful completion of the first year, students may be eligible to apply for a NYS provisional permit, allowing employment within New York as a clinical laboratory scientist while studies in the program are completed.

Accredited: The NYMC GSBMS Clinical Laboratory Sciences Master's Program is accredited by The National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). Upon successful completion of our program, graduates will be eligible to take the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) exam for national certification.

Comprehensive: Students who successfully complete our Master’s Degree program will have a wide-ranging knowledge of standard operating procedures, the ability to perform and assess necessary functions in the lab including development and evaluation of test procedures, data evaluation and quality assurance, the skills needed to direct and supervise operations including personnel and budgets, and much more.

Affordable: We believe that education isn’t exceptional if it’s not affordable. We work hard to provide Financial Aid to qualified students and offer a Tuition Payment Plan as well.
Dedicated: Students acquire practical laboratory knowledge and critical thinking skills while having access to theoretical training by our highly qualified and dedicated faculty.
