Roommates

All room assignments and roommate placements are based on the information provided on your housing application. We do our best to accommodate everyone's housing preferences first, then we match you with compatible roommate(s) accordingly. Roommate requests are offered, but are not guaranteed. To increase the chances of roommate pairing, it is recommended that both applicants include their preferred roommate's name on their housing applications, and submit the applications within a one week time frame.

Residence Halls

Grasslands I

Grasslands I are unfurnished garden style apartments. All kitchens are equipped with appliances, including a microwave. Shower curtains are also included. Units do not have central air, so please see information regarding A/C units. All sizes are approximate, each unit will vary slightly.

Apartment Sizes:

Grassland 1 apartments vary based on size, corner units versus middle units, all measurements are estimates. Upstairs apartments end in even numbers, odd number apartments are downstairs. 1 bedroom and 3-bedroom apartments are only upstairs.

2 Bedroom Upstairs = 530 sq. ft.
Bedroom 1: 11’x11’ = 120 sq. ft.
Bedroom 2: 11’x15’ = 165 sq. ft.
Bathroom: 5’x7’= 35 sq. Ft.

2 Bedroom Downstairs = 500 sq. ft.
Both bedrooms: 11’x13’=140 sq. ft.
Kitchen/Living room: 11’x12’ = 102 sq. ft.
Bathroom = 5’x7’: 35 sq. Ft.

3 Bedroom Apartment = 587 sq. ft
Bedroom 1: 11’x11’ = 120 sq. ft.
Bedroom 2 & 3: 11’x15’ = 165 sq. ft
Kitchen/Living room: 11’x12’ = 102 sq. ft.
Bathroom = 5’x7’: 35 sq. ft.

1 Bedroom Apartment = 320 sq. ft.
Bedroom 1: 11’x11’ = 120 sq. ft.
Living Room: 11’x15’ = 165 sq. ft.
Bathroom: 35 sq. Ft.

2 Bed Share Outline (layout differs when the apartment is upstairs or downstairs)

Left is the Studio/ Jr. One Bedroom size. Right – Three Bed Share. These are separate apartments connected by 1 wall. These apartments are upstairs only.

Grasslands II

Grasslands II are furnished, suite-style apartments. Furnishing includes living room furniture, a couch, a loveseat, a coffee table, end table and a kitchen table with 4 chairs. Each bedroom has a twin-XL bed, a dresser, a desk with a hutch and a desk chair. All kitchens are equipped with appliances, including a microwave, oven/stove and refrigerator. Shower curtains are also included. Units do not have central air, so please see information regarding A/C units. All apartments include heat.

Apartment Sizes:

All square footage is approximate and will vary upon exact unit, some corner bedrooms are not exactly square as shown in the drawing below.

Each bedroom = 9’x14’= 126 sq. ft.
‌Living Room: 220 sq. ft.
Kitchen: 60 sq. ft.
Bathrooms: 40 sq. ft.

The following Three Bed Share apartments have a ½ bath in bedroom 3:

1504, 1404, 1304, 1204 & 1104; all other furnished, three bed share apartments have two full bathrooms.

Four Bed Share:

Rooms 1 & 2 on the same side of apartment
Rooms 3 & 4 on the other side of apartment

The four bed share outline above shows the furniture that is currently in all rooms. All NYMC furniture is not allowed to leave the apartment at any time throughout the year. The bedrooms are not always in the order they appear in the photo above. There is a balcony off of the living room. Some corner rooms are not square as they are shown above. All rooms are about 9 feet by 14 feet. Students are allowed to bring their own beds (full sized) but they cannot remove NYMC provided beds.
