What You Need to Live on Campus

Below is information you will need to move in, including AC, renter’s insurance, and internet. Once you're moved in, information like maintenance requests, room change requests, and checkout, can be found on the TouroOne portal.

Anonymous Housing Reporting

New York Medical College wants to ensure all students' safety and security while living on campus at all times. You and all students are strongly encouraged to report anything that is seen, heard or experienced while on campus that makes you or other students uncomfortable or unsafe in any way.

Please use the Anonymous Housing Reporting Form if you have concerns you feel should be brought to the NYMC’s attention. Include pertinent details (names, apartment numbers) about any situation of which you feel New York Medical College should be made aware. If you would like for staff to contact you, please include your information, otherwise any requests will be anonymous. This information goes to housing staff only.

If there is an emergency, please contact Campus Security at 914-594-4226 or 911 immediately.  This reporting form is not for emergency reporting. If this is a maintenance issue, please put in a HIPPO Request.

Renter's Insurance

All housing students are required to carry renters insurance and must provide their carrier name and policy number.

Even if you do everything to protect your home, accidents can happen. While NYMC does not recommend any one insurance company to deal with, we require that while living on campus, students obtain coverage. It is important to confirm if your parents' homeowner's insurance carrier if student’s property (including computers and other electronics) will be fully covered for loss while housed outside of the family dwelling.

What is renter's insurance?

Similar to Homeowner’s Insurance, it provides renters with coverage for personal property loss or damage. It could also provide you with temporary housing and liability coverage. Insurers will often tailor renter's insurance plans to the specific needs of the tenant.

What does renter's insurance cover?

  • Clothing
  • Furniture
  • Television or entertainment system
  • Computer/laptop
  • Musical or sporting equipment
  • Jewelry
  • Liability coverage
  • Additional living expenses

Renter's insurance policies and prices differ with each insurance company. Make sure you discuss the terms of the insurance plan with your provider.

Why get renter's insurance?

NYMC will not reimburse students for any loss or damage to your personal property. Without renter's insurance, your personal property is not protected against loss or damage. Protect yourself from:

  • Fire or Lightning
  • Windstorm
  • Smoke
  • Vandalism or malicious mischief
  • Theft
  • Accidental discharge of water

How much does renter’s insurance cost?

Renter's insurance policies with a $50,000 property value limit can run from $100-$300 premiums per year. That's only $8.33-$25.00 per month! Where you rent determines how much you will pay for insurance. Contact any insurance company today to get a quote and to obtain this valuable resource.

Where can I get renter’s insurance?

Many Insurance companies offer renter's insurance. Contact your provider to see if they offer coverage options.
