Annual Club Fair Boasts Record Number of Student Organizations
The Fair Highlighted The Diversity Of Student Interests And Activities At NYMC
The Medical Education Center (MEC) and Basic Science Building (BSB) were bustling on September 15 as hundreds of New York Medical College (NYMC) students attended the annual Club Fair to learn more about the more than 100 student clubs represented. Students had more options than ever with 19 new clubs—a record for a single academic year.
Tables staffed by representatives of the clubs, which focused on a variety of areas including career interest, education and advocacy, religious and cultural interests, and leadership and recreation, filled the front patio, lobby, student lounge and cafeteria, creating a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere.
“Club Fair was an overwhelming success. This year, we have 103 approved clubs, the highest number in an academic year, including 19 new clubs,” said Anthony M. Sozzo, M.S., M.S.Ed., associate dean for student affairs and director of student financial planning and student activities. Women in Sports Medicine, Music as Medicine, and Weightlifting and Health clubs were among the record number of new clubs. “This growth is a testament to our students’ desire and enthusiasm to enhance the lives of New York Medical College and the surrounding community, as well as have the opportunity to participate in social and stress-free activities,” said Mr. Sozzo, who coordinated the Club Fair with SOM Student Senate treasurer, Harry Haran, SOM Class of 2025.
