HSL Hosts 28th Annual Faculty Author Recognition
The Year 2020 Was Like No Other, but NYMC Faculty Rose to the Occasion on Many Levels, Including Scholarly Publications
It was a prolific year with more than 800 faculty citations including 747 articles, four books and 55 book chapters. Ninety-four of the articles published were related to COVID-19. These achievements were celebrated at the 28th Annual Faculty Author Celebration hosted by the Health Sciences Library (HSL) via a webinar on December 15.
The awards honored faculty authors in a variety of categories considering engagement, distribution and the influence of their publications. The virtual format provided an opportunity for all the awardees to discuss their research via pre-recorded messages, along with congratulatory remarks from College leadership, deans and chairs.
“I would like to congratulate all 433 of the 2020 authors who continue to enhance the research footprint of New York Medical College even in these very difficult times,” said Marie T. Ascher, M.S., M.P.H., the Lillian Hetrick Huber Endowed Director of the HSL, in her opening remarks. “Your commitment to the scientific record is commended and appreciated.”
The 2020 scholarly works of NYMC faculty were quite an accomplishment considering that research was suspended for part of the year. They are compiled in the 2020 Faculty Publications of the Touro College and University System.
