AOA Virtual Visiting Professor’s Lecture Set for April 27
The New York Iota chapter of Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA), the national medical honor society, will host its annual visiting professor lecture via Zoom on April 27 at 4:00 p.m.
Ethan Fried, M.D., MACP, professor of medicine at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and a specialist in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, critical care medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital, will present “What Will They Become?: Mentoring and Coaching in Academic Medicine.”
Dr. Fried graduated from the CUNY City College of New York, Sophie Davis School for Biomedical Education and the SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at SUNY Downstate-Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn and a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the Cornell University Medical School - New York Hospital. He earned a master’s degree in clinical epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health and a master’s degree in health professionals pedagogy and leadership from Hofstra University.
Currently he serves as associate chair for education, internal medicine residency program director and associate designated institutional official at Lenox Hill Hospital. Dr. Fried is also vice president for academic affairs for graduate medical education quality and patient safety for Northwell Health. Previously he served as national president of the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine and was chair of the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine Committee for Diversity and Inclusion. Dr. Fried’s research focuses on patient safety and medical errors and teaching clinical skills with formative objective structured clinical examinations (OSCE).
Dr. Fried is a Master of the American College of Physicians and an inductee in the Zucker School of Medicine Academy of Medical Educators.
