College Celebrates Longevity of Employee Service
The College community gathered in the dining room at Skyline Drive to celebrate the 29th annual Employee Recognition day. Hosted by the Human Resources Department, the event recognizes employees celebrating five-year increments of service, from five to fifty, during the calendar year.
The College community gathered in the dining room at Skyline Drive to celebrate the 29th annual Employee Recognition day. Hosted by the Human Resources Department, the event recognizes employees celebrating five-year increments of service, from five to fifty, during the calendar year. This year’s ceremony honored 133 employees. As tradition dictates, a special proclamation was presented to honorees celebrating 25 years of service and they were officially welcomed to the NYMC Quarter Century Club. Community Outreach Awards were presented to Patricia Seagriff-Curtin, D.D.S., clinical assistant professor of dental medicine, Sergio G. Golombek, M.D., M.P.H. '04, professor of pediatrics in the School of Medicine and clinical public health in the School of Health Sciences and Practice, and Augusto Sola, M.D., M.S., adjunct professor of epidemiology and community health, who were nominated by their colleagues for demonstrating exceptional community service and volunteering their services, talents and time.
The highlight of the morning was honoring Robert Lerner, M.D., second from right, professor of medicine, and Edward J. Messina, Ph.D. ’73, third from left, professor of physiology who each marked the 50 year milestone. The golden honorees were joined by, from left: Francis L. Belloni, Ph.D., dean of the Graduate School of Basic Medical Science; Edward C. Halperin, M.D., M.A., chancellor and chief executive officer, Robert W. Amler, M.D., M.B.A., dean of the School of Health Sciences and Practice and vice president for government affairs; and D. Douglas Miller, M.D., C.M., M.B.A., dean of the School of Medicine.
