The Department of Environmental Health and Safety Welcomes New Director
Donna Egan, M.S., CSP, CHMM, CSHM Brings Expertise and Experience to the EHS Department
Donna Egan, M.S., CSP, CHMM, CSHM, joined New York Medical College as the director of the Department of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS). Her responsibilities include the overall strategic planning and management of a comprehensive energy, health, safety and environmental program for the College.
Egan has 33 years of experience leading environmental, health, and safety initiatives in both the private and public sectors, including in manufacturing and construction. In her previous role, she was director of EHS for a pharmaceutical company, where she was responsible for the safety of employees with a specific focus on high-hazard chemical and equipment risk management. Egan worked closely with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to ensure her company was in compliance with environmental regulations.
“The safety of our staff, students, and other stakeholders at the College is a top priority for me. Our dedicated team of EHS professionals are responsible for, radiation safety, biosafety, and life safety, as well as energy conservation environmental protection initiatives,” said Egan.
She earned a B.A. in energy and environmental policy from Syracuse University and an M.S. in environmental management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), and Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM).
