Join NYMC for the Third COVID-19 Symposium, The Next Phase of Clinical and Public Health Management
Presentation to discuss the next phase of the public health response to COVID-19.
Faculty experts from the New York Medical College (NYMC) Center for Disaster Medicine (CDM) and the Touro College and University System (TCUS) will present The Next Phase of Clinical and Public Health Management COVID-19 symposium via a webinar on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. As a community service to medical professionals and health care providers, the symposium has been approved for 1.5 CME credits by the NYMC Office of Continuing Medical Education, free of charge. The event will be moderated by Edward C. Halperin, M.D., M.A., chancellor and chief executive officer, and will include remarks by Alan Kadish, M.D., president.
Other speakers include Chandra Shekhar Bakshi, D.V.M., Ph.D., associate professor of microbiology and immunology, who will give an update on the basic science of the virus and the immune response; Janet Piscitelli, M.D., director of pathology and laboratory services, Westchester Medical Center, who will give the latest on laboratory testing for acquired immunity of COVID-19; Robert W. Amler, M.D., M.B.A., dean of the NYMC School of Health Sciences and Practice, former regional health administrator at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, former chief medical officer at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry and co-founder of the CDM, who will examine how to interpret the data to determine when to re-open the economy; Marisa Montecalvo, M.D., professor of medicine and director of student health services who is an infectious disease specialist, will present the outpatient management of people who “want to go back to work;” and Sherlita Amler, M.D., M.S., adjunct professor of public health, clinical associate professor of pediatrics, fellow of the Center for Disaster Medicine and health commissioner for Westchester County, who will discuss the next phase of the public health response to COVID-19.
