NYMC AMWA Chapter Hosts Annual Mentorship Dinner
To celebrate Women's History Month in March, the New York Medical College (NYMC) chapter of the American Medical Women's Association (AMWA) hosted its annual Mentorship Dinner on March 11 in the Alumni House.
Students had the opportunity to engage in candid conversation about women in medicine, career paths and work/life balance issues with several female physicians including NYMC faculty members and local practitioners representing a variety of specialties. The event was organized by NYMC AMWA mentorship committee, from left: Justine Hung, SOM Class of 2022; Bertie Zhang, SOM Class of 2021; and Kiet Zhou, SOM Class of 2022. "It was a great opportunity for students to connect with physicians in the fields they are interested in and meet potential mentors to guide them towards that path. We were fortunate to have physicians in a variety of medical specialties at the event so it was also a chance for students to explore other fields that they may not have considered before," said Ms. Zhou.
