Psychiatry Residency Program Launched at Saint Joseph’s Medical Center

The School of Medicine has expanded its NYMC-sponsored residency programs at Saint Joseph’s Medical Center in Yonkers, New York, to include a new Psychiatry Residency Program. The program is offered jointly at Saint Joseph’s and its St. Vincent’s Hospital Westchester division in Harrison, New York. NYMC also sponsors the Family Medicine Residency Program at Saint Joseph’s
Saint Joseph's Medical Center, with its St. Vincent's Hospital Westchester division, is recognized as a major provider of quality psychiatric services in Westchester County. The hospitals have 182 inpatient beds, including specialized geriatric, adolescent, addiction rehabilitation and intermediate care units, and treat over 4,000 patients in their outpatient mental health programs and over 500 patients in their outpatient substance use disorder programs.
As part of the Psychiatry Residency Program, residents will have clinical rotations in a broad range of areas, including addiction psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry and community psychiatry. Residents will have the opportunity to experience several unique community-based services as part of their required or elective rotations, including the recovery-oriented PROS program, the Crisis Prevention and Response Team, and the short-term Intensive Crisis Residence.
