The social media ambassador program at NYMC gives students in the School of Medicine (SOM), School of Health Sciences and Practice (SHSP) and Graduate School of Basic Medical Sciences (GSBMS), the opportunity to chronicle their experiences and share their unique perspectives. Last year, social ambassadors accounted for 90 posts and more than 1,000 likes on Instagram. Meet the students who will be posting about their activities throughout the academic year.

Why did you choose to return as a NYMC ambassador?

The community and student body is one of the most unique things about NYMC. We are a very tight-knit group that all support each other in reaching our full potential. I find as an ambassador, I’m able to highlight and uplift some of the amazing people that have made my four years of medical school such a phenomenal experience.

What do you look forward to most this academic year?

As I start my fourth and final year, I am most looking forward to watching all of my classmates choose their specialties and match at their dream programs.

What advice or word of encouragement do you have for current and/or future NYMC students?

I truly believe to succeed in medical school, it is so important to achieve balance and take everything one day at a time. The four years fly by so quickly, but the relationships and experiences you create will stick with you forever.

Why did you choose to become a NYMC ambassador?

I want to showcase the people, knowledge and experiences, of NYMC SLP students.

What do you look forward to most this academic year?

I am most excited to continue to get hands-on experience by delving into my clinical externships this academic year.

What advice or word of encouragement do you have for current and/or future NYMC students?

Dedicate time for yourself every day, even if it's just five minutes. Whether it’s a workout, mediation, quick walk, reading—do something for yourself.

Why did you choose to become a NYMC ambassador?

I believe social media is a great medium to distribute and exchange information with those who share similar interests from different corners of the world. As a social media ambassador, I believe I will be able to give a perspective to individuals who are interested in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at NYMC and allow people to see how students in the program explore their journey to becoming physical therapists.

What do you look forward to most this academic year?

I am looking forward to hosting and organizing with my classmates the annual 5K fundraiser race, Race for Rehab, on October 10, which raises money for Achilles International, a not-for-profit organization that seeks to encourage athletes with disabilities to participate in mainstream sports and form a community of support.

What advice or word of encouragement do you have for current and/or future NYMC students?

For current or future NYMC D.P.T. students, my mantra has always been, "Seek perfection, within imperfections." By accepting what we don't know, we can be inquisitive and grow from those imperfections.
