StuHE Fights Against Breast Cancer

The Student Healthcare Executives (StuHE) organization in the School of Health Sciences and Practice joined the fight against breast cancer at the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York, on October 20.

For the eighth consecutive year, the team participated in the 3.5-mile walk wearing pink ribbons, matching shirts and smiles on their faces. This year StuHE raised more than $4,000 for the cause.

To raise funds for the event, StuHe organized a bake sale on October 10, the most successful to date, raising, $935 from the sale of home-made treats, t-shirts and donated items.

StuHE was established in the spring of 1999 for the purpose of providing a network for students in the health care field to meet, exchange ideas and set goals. The chapter holds several meetings throughout the academic year and welcomes students from any school or department of New York Medical College. They will be hosting their annual “Career Mentor Session” on November 12 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in 19 Skyline Drive. Public health students will have mentoring and networking opportunities professionals in the fields of behavioral and community health, environmental, global health, pharmaceutical and hospital systems as well as those from local health departments and recruiters.
