Cardiovascular Translational Science Institute

Founded in 2015, the primary mission of the Cardiovascular Translational Science Institute (TSI) is to provide the infrastructure to conduct nationally competitive translational research, both by leveraging the capabilities of NYMC scientists and clinical investigators at WMC, and through the development of durable partnerships with the academic and industry sectors.

Research

The Cardiovascular TSI organized a planning workshop in October 2015 to present and discuss current and proposed research initiatives, with the participation of basic scientists and clinical investigators. The workshop was well-attended and successful in:

  • stimulating crosstalk among researchers, and
  • identifying areas of overlap in interest and expertise in specific topics.

Following the success of the workshop, the Cardiovascular TSI leadership embarked on the identification of specific research projects and requested the submission of brief program proposals, primarily emanating from collaboration between NYMC scientists and clinicians at WMC.
