Biosafety Level-3 Laboratory (BSL-3)

The BSL-3 is available for research with Select Agents. Select Agents are biological agents and toxins that have been determined to have the potential to pose a severe threat to public health and safety, to animal and plant health, or to animal or plant products.

  • An Esco class II type A2 biosafety cabinet
  • Priorclave front loading 100L autoclave
  • 1 -80oC freezer and 2 4oC refrigerator/-20OC freezer
  • Eppendorf 5810R and 5424 Centrifuges
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) maintenance and storage
  • 2 370C COincubators
  • 1 shaking incubator
  • PCR equipment
  • 1 microscope
  • 1 visible light spectrophotometer
  • 1 microplate reader
  • 1 biophotometer

Rates

Daily Rate: $550
8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (8 hours)

One month of use $9,500. Limited to a max of 8 hours per day, any additional hour (or portion thereof) over 8 hours is billed at $120/ per hour.

Routine services are billed per hour at $120/ hour

  • Quarterly compliance review (approx. 2 hours)
  • Periodic follow up visits
  • Agent transfer paperwork and receipt (approx. 3-4 hours per transfer/receipt)
  • Assistance with Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) Protocol Submission and agent specific SOPs

Initial classroom user training (Required; Provided by Responsible Official (RO) or Alternate Responsible Official (ARO)): $350
