If you are interested in enrolling in courses as a non-matriculating student, please contact Admissions sph_admissions@nymc.edu for additional information.
Matriculated Students
If you wish to pursue a master’s degree or an advanced certificate, you must enroll as a matriculated student. A grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 from the undergraduate institution from which the applicant received his/her degree is generally required for those beginning studies as matriculated students (those pursuing a degree). However, the GPA (both undergraduate and graduate) is one of several factors that are considered. Other factors include the applicant’s Statement of Academic Purpose, test scores, recommendations, work experience, community involvement, and school extracurricular activities. Financial Aid is available for M.S. students only.
Non-Matriculated Students
Students who are interested in auditing or enrolling in classes may enroll as non-matriculated students and take up to 6 credits. All credits taken will be applied to the degree program chosen. Non-matriculating students are not eligible for financial aid (federal loans). If a student becomes a matriculated student, all credits taken will be applied to the degree program chosen.
Conditional Admissions Students
Applicants whose undergraduate GPA is under 3.0, may, at the discretion of the Admissions Review Committee, be accepted as conditional admissions students. Upon completion of a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 9 credits with a grade point average of 3.0 (grades of B) or higher, the status of conditional admissions students will be reviewed and the committee may remove the conditional status and hold on the student’s continued registration. Financial aid is available per federal guidelines. If the student does not meet the 3.0 GPA criterion, he/she will be prohibited from enrolling in any further coursework and will be administratively withdrawn from the school.
