Office of Undergraduate Medical Education

The NYMC School of Medicine Office of Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) is located in Sunshine Cottage on the Valhalla campus. The office is responsible for providing the administrative support for the planning, implementation, evaluation and oversight to of the curriculum.  All academic schedules are provided to the office for upload into the curriculum database LCMS+.  The office is responsible for the support of all committees related to education at the college, including: the Education and Curriculum Committee, the First and Second Year Curriculum Subcommittee, the Third and Fourth Year Curriculum Subcommittee, the Course/Clerkship Review Subcommittee and the Content and Thematic Integration Committee.  As such, the administrative staff in the office are responsible for the collating and managing of all data related to curriculum monitoring, management, and continuous quality improvement.

Other support functions of the UME office include: scanning of examinations, monitoring of timeliness of grade submission, assignment of student electives in year three, and management of course/clerkship evaluations.  The office also oversees all aspects of curriculum management, assessment, educational technology and faculty and resident teaching skills development.
