Doctor of Public Health (Dr.P.H.) Admissions
How to Apply
Doctor of Public Health applications are submitted through SOPHAS, the centralized public health application service.
What You’ll Need
Submit the following documents on SOPHAS along with your application. GRE scores are not required.
- Three (3) letters of recommendation, with at least two from graduate faculty members (if applicable)
- Personal statement (max 500 words)
- Resume
- Public health prerequisite worksheet, confirming you've taken the required core prerequisite courses:

- Health Economics
- Environmental Health
- Behavioral Health
- Statistical Approaches for Research
- Principles and Practices of Epidemiology

Application Deadlines
The Dr.P.H. has rolling admissions and classes start in the fall and spring. We recommend you have in your application by August 1 for a fall start and December 15 for a spring start.
Admission Criteria
In order to apply you will need:
- a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) or a Master’s Degree (M.S.) in a related health field
- a graduate GPA at the master’s level of at least 3.5.
Accepted applicants who do not have an M.P.H. in the appropriate area prior to beginning the Dr.P.H. may need to complete some pre-requisite coursework.
Application Review
Applications are reviewed by the Admissions Committee as soon as the application is complete and verified by SOPHAS. Applicants who appear to fulfill the criteria may be invited to campus for an orientation to the program and a formal interview. Acceptances are issued on a rolling basis for a fall start. Accepted students must submit a $500 deposit to guarantee your place in the class. It is expected that accepted students be competent in using a software office suite including word, spreadsheet, and presentation programs.
