“Jo” AlJawhara AlSabah, M.P.H.

“Jo” AlJawhara AlSabah was born and raised in Kuwait, attending Kuwait University as an undergraduate majoring in molecular biology & genetics. After graduating she worked in cancer research at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research at MIT, focusing on oncogenomics then in oncological research at the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University. Subsequently she earned her MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2015. She is a scholar sent on behalf of Kuwait University’s new Faculty of Public Health and is focused on a systems approach that assures the public’s health in practice, research, and policy by unifying diverse resources of various sectors and challenge different entities to work in a concerted, strategic manner that promotes and protects population health. Future goals include developing and applying a public health framework that focuses on distinct partnerships and the need to shift from an individual to a population-based approach in practice, research, policy, and community engagement.
