Ali Imran, M.D.

Ali Imran is a physician Fellow in Palliative Care/Geriatric Supportive Oncology training at NYC VA System/Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He previously was at the University of Connecticut Center on Aging with a special focus on Geriatric Oncology. He has completed a Residency in the department of internal medicine at Bridgeport Hospital, Yale New Haven Health. He previously was a clinical research associate with Elmhurst Hospital and the Mount Sinai Medical Center’s Neurosurgery department. Imran has graduated from St. Georges’ University School of Medicine’s Global Scholar’s program pursuing a combined Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health at New York Medical College’s Institute for Public Health. His interest in public health is also providing the basis for his career plans in broadcast medical journalism where educating the public is the top priority. Imran has gained experience by spending a year at CNN’s medical news unit with Dr. Sanjay Gupta and now has begun his broadcast medical journalism career as a contributor to ABC 8′ Good Morning Connecticut as well as CNN HLN’s Nancy Grace show/Primetime Justice with Ashleigh Banfield. He is currently a contributor to the Walt Disney Television’s ABC News Medical Unit which covers Good Morning America, World News Tonight with David Muir, 20/20, Nightline and ABC News World News Now. He has been covering how COVID-19 has particularly affected older adults and nursing homes Responsibilities include ongoing review of medical content for ABC News's various platforms before it is aired, and he also contributes on air for the World News Now overnight broadcast on a weekly basis. He plans for a career in clinical as well as policy/advocacy position in Geriatric Medicine specifically with the intersection between emerging cancer therapies, survivorship and palliative care with training at the University of Connecticut Center on Aging, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Mount Sinai Medical Center.
