Dr. Maria Mikhail is an international student from Egypt who joined the DrPH program in Health Policy and Management at NYMC in August 2022. Dr. Mikhail is a public health specialist at the Egyptian Ministry of Health, Fayoum Health Affairs Directorate. She worked as a technical office member of Deputy Minister of Health for Public Health duties, and as an officer in charge of COVID-19 vaccination of the governmental HCWs. She also worked as an Infection Control manager at Fayoum Ophthalmic Hospital, Egypt. She received her bachelor’s degree of Medicine and General Surgery from Fayoum University, Egypt in 2009, with an honor degree. Her field expertise includes infection control, vaccination, maternal and child health care, preventive medicine initiatives, and health policies. Dr. Mikhail's research interests include equity in the access of the health care services via universal health coverage and Digital Health. She has three publications in public health and ophthalmology. Dr. Mikhail has another major as she worked as an Oculoplastic Surgeon since 2013. She obtained two master’s degrees in 2021, one in Ophthalmology from Beni-Suef University, Egypt and a Master’s degree of Public Health from Yonsei University, South Korea in 2021, with a top honor graduate award, GHSA concentration. She is finishing her Fellowship of Ophthalmology from the Royal College of Glasgow, UK.
