Tuition Discount Programs

Students enrolling in the M.P.H., Dr.P.H., M.S. in Biostatistics, M.S. Bioethics, or Advanced Certificates may be eligible for a tuition discount through the School of Health Sciences and Practice. There is a maximum of one discount per student, discounts cannot be combined. Please see the groups below to see if you qualify.

FDA and HHS Employees Tuition Discount

  

Employees of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and/or federal Health and Human Services (HHS) receive a 50% tuition discount on M.P.H., Dr.P.H., M.S. in Biostatistics, M.S. Bioethics or Advanced Certificates programs.

To request the 50% discount, students using VA benefits must complete the every term upon registration to bursar@nymc.edu with the necessary proof of eligibility. Discounts requests will not be accepted after the first week of the term and will not be applied to prior terms regardless of eligibility.

FDA/HHS Employees not using VA benefits should submit an e-mail request to bursar@nymc.edu with updated verification of employment each term of registration.

WMC Health Network Employees

  

10% tuition discount for Westchester Medical Center Health Network Employees

A letter on official letterhead citing employment and eligibility must be submitted at every registration and must be faxed to (914) 594-3477 or emailed to: bursar@nymc.edu.

Employees of Boston Children's Health Physicians (BCHP)

As a member of BCHP, you are eligible to receive a 30% discount on tuition for our public health programs.

All of our programs are fully accredited by the Council on Education in Public Health (CEPH).

Veterans and Active Duty Members

  

50% for active duty members of the Uniformed Services (military and U.S. Public Health Service) for online Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) and graduate certificates.

40% for Veterans from National Guard, Reservists, Retirees, Veterans (discharged under honorable conditions—must provide DD Form 214 or equivalent), Department of Defense employees (contractors exempt) and their immediate family.

Students who are veterans and eligible for the GI Bill tuition benefit are encouraged to use this benefit which typically covers their full tuition in the School of Health Sciences and Practice. 50% Tuition Discount, Benefits for Members of the U.S. Public Health Service 
Committed to those individuals who serve our nation—New York Medical College’s (NYMC) School of Health Sciences and Practice (SHSP) provides a 50% tuition discount to members of the U.S. Public Health Service. Veterans and active-duty members of the Commissioned Public Health Service, and civilian employees of the U.S. Public Health Service are eligible for this tuition discount on all SHSP public health programs.

Procedure for Receiving Tuition Discount

Prospective students must receive approval from the student's ESO, military counselor, or Service prior to enrollment. 25% Tuition Discount for NYMC School of Health Sciences and Practice students enrolled in the Public Health program 

SUNY/CUNY graduates must email a one-time tuition discount request with proof of eligibility to bursar@nymc.edu at the time of registration. 

The discount request must be made within the first week of the term.  If the deadline for the term is not met the discount will begin applying to the following term. Proof of eligibility can be a letter citing graduation from your registrar’s office, a copy of your diploma or your transcript.

25% for physicians employed in an NYMC faculty practice entity (at least 2 years)

10% for non-physicians employed in an NYMC faculty practice entity (at least 2 years)

“Friends of Bioethics” include

A fifty percent (50%) tuition reduction is being offered as a membership benefit for you regarding the Master of Science (M.S.) and Advanced Certificate in Bioethics Programs at New York Medical College (NYMC).

The COVID-19 pandemic has certainly emphasized the importance of bioethics in addressing the ethical dilemmas in health care, and it will remain at the forefront for the foreseeable future with an increased demand for bioethics professionals. 

The “Friends of Bioethics” program allows you to nominate yourself or individuals working in your practice who have an interest in bioethics and a desire to pursue that interest by taking courses in our Bioethics program.

Students who are nominated will be accepted into the Bioethics program provided they meet the minimum admissions requirements and will be entitled to a 50 percent tuition reduction throughout their bioethics studies at NYMC so long as they remain in good academic standing per the program’s requirements.

Degrees

  • The Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) degree programs offer concentrations in four areas:
    1. Behavioral Sciences and Health Promotion teaches techniques for behavior change—health promotion, health education, community needs assessments, and the development and evaluation of intervention programs, with sensitivity to cultural factors.
    2. Epidemiology provides students with the knowledge and quantitative skills necessary to participate in the areas of medical, clinical, and public health research, working to identify trends, patterns, and causes related to disease in populations.
    3. Environmental Health Science provides analytical and problem-solving skills necessary to communicate with technical experts and their non-technical constituents and explores the interaction between health and the environment addressing the issues of air and water quality as well as solid waste and environmental and industrial toxicology.
    4. Health Policy and Management provides students with an understanding of the business, program, planning, delivery and policy areas of healthcare.
  • The Master of Science (M.S.) in Biostatistics degree program will arm you with the tools to build and interpret predictive models to assess health outcomes and to develop systems for optimal health care delivery. You will learn to turn data into information by developing the ability to extract meaningful information from the analyses of large datasets. Graduates provide value to teams of clinical and policy decision-makers in a variety of health care settings with their facility with decision-making based on probability and risk.
