How to Apply

Applicants interested in the New York Medical College Dermatology Residency Program at Metropolitan should apply through the Electronic Resident Application Service (ERAS).

Application Requirements

You will need the following items to complete your ERAS application:

  • Curriculum vitae
  • USMLE Step I and II with minimum scores of 225
  • Step III must be completed by end of PGY2
  • Medical school transcript
  • Personal statement
  • Dean’s letter
  • At least three (3) letters of recommendation.

Eligibility Criteria

There are 2-3 Resident available spots per year. Applicants for the residency training program must be students at or graduates of approved medical schools in the United States or Canada, and must successfully complete a preliminary (PGY-1) year in one of the following programs:

  • transitional year,
  • internal medicine,
  • family medicine,
  • pediatrics,
  • general surgery,
  • emergency medicine or
  • obstetrics and gynecology).

International Medical Graduates

International Medical Graduates are welcome to apply under the following conditions:

  • Completion of PGY-1 training in the United States is mandatory.
  • Applicants must hold a current and valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).

Selection and Interview Process

Review and Invitations

Our Selection Committee conducts a holistic review of completed applications and issues invitations to interview by the end of November. Applicants selected will be contacted via ERAS Messenger.

Interview Format

Due to COVID-19, interviews will be conducted via the Zoom platform, allowing applicants to meet individually with faculty members, residents, and other applicants if desired.
