Undergraduate Medical Education: Clerkship

The NYMC Department of Rehabilitation Medicine offers a combined PM&R / Neurology clerkship for third year medical students. We also offer electives for medical students in their fourth year of training. Visiting students from other medical schools are encouraged to choose an elective with us. Elective rotations are individually structured based on the student's objectives. Students learn about the diagnosis, etiology, treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of an array of acute and chronic neurological and musculoskeletal disorders, Students have the option of rotating through outpatient clinics, the comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation (CIR) unit, the consult service or any combination as they are introduced to the specialty of PM&R. Students regularly attend scheduled departmental conferences and other selected teaching activities during their electives.
