Alan L. Gass, M.D., FACC, is Section Chief of Cardiac Failure and Transplantation at Westchester Medical Center. From 1991 to 2005, Dr. Gass served as the Medical Director of Transplant Cardiology at New York’s Mount Sinai Medical Center, where he personally followed hundreds of patients in various stages of heart failure, 400 of whom were transplanted, achieving survival rates among the top in the country. He is on the Medical Advisory Board of Live On New York, Past president of the New York Cardiothoracic Transplant Consortium and Medical Education Director for the National Institute of Whole Health.
Dr. Gass has appeared in Life Magazine, The New York Times, and on CNN, NBC, CNBC, and local New York news affiliates as a medical expert. He was featured in a one-hour documentary special, “A Change of Heart,” on Dateline NBC, which chronicled the poignant wait of several of his patients for a suitable donor heart. He is on the advisory board of HealthCorps – Dr. Mehmet Oz’ program aimed at combating childhood obesity using college students as mentors and teachers to raise awareness of the benefits of diet and exercise. Dr. Gass was recently appointed Integrative Medical Education Director for the National Institute of Whole Health.
