Michael H. Gewitz, M.D., FAHA, FACC, FAAP
Michael H. Gewitz, M.D., FAHA, FACC, FAAP, has edited a textbook, Primary Pediatric Cardiology, and has also been author or co-author of more than 130 scientific publications and reports plus chapters in 25 major textbooks. He serves as a reviewer and editorial board member for several scientific journals and is a past chair of the American Heart Association’s Council of Cardiovascular Disease in the Young and a past chair of its Committee on Rheumatic Fever, Endocarditis and Kawasaki Disease.
Recently, Dr. Gewitz was chair of the AHA scientific statement on Rheumatic Fever and co-chair on the Pediatric Infective Endocarditis statement. He is a co-author of the 2017 scientific statement on Kawasaki Disease. Dr. Gewitz served for 10 years as a member of the New York State Cardiac Advisory Committee, the group that advises the Commissioner of Health on cardiovascular practices and policies throughout New York.
