Daniel Rosen, M.D., is an experienced endourologist specializing in the minimally invasive treatment of complex kidney stone disease. He also focuses on the treatment of upper tract urothelial cancer and organ sparing approaches to its management. Dr. Rosen has a wide breadth of experience treating the gamut of urological diseases. Under the mentorship of Dr. Julio Davalos, Dr. Rosen completed his endourology training with a particular focus on minimally invasive treatment of complex stone disease at Chesapeake Urology, affiliated with the University of Maryland. His research focuses on the mechanisms of formation of kidney stones as well as the newest techniques and technologies to facilitate their treatment. As both a passionate teacher and the beneficiary of mentorship from leading clinicians, Dr. Rosen is dedicated to resident and medical student education, research, and training the next generation of endourologists. Whether in the operating room or the clinic, he believes in a patient-centric approach to decision making and patient treatment, understanding that each patient’s unique circumstances may lead to different needs or goals. Dr. Rosen has also been involved administratively in process improvements and operational efficiency, working with teams throughout the hospital to improve patient care.

  • Optimization of Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy

PI: Julio Davalos, Chesapeake Urology

Analyzed outcomes of percutaneous nephrolithotomy in the ambulatory setting. Developed novel technique to allows greater lithotripter efficiency.          

  • Randomized Clinical Trial of Perioperative Robotic versus Ultrasound-Guided Transversus Abdominis Plane Blocks versus Local Anesthesia

Developed study protocol, guided study through IRB, oversaw study accrual and implementation. Accrual completed; Abstract accepted for podium presentation at AUA 2021; Manuscript in preparation. 

  • Robotic Partial Nephrectomy Outcomes, Surgical Techniques, and Clinical Optimization

PI: Ketan K. Badani, Icahn Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, NY

Designed and published multiple studies focused on optimizing outcomes following robotic partial nephrectomies, utilizing a large retrospective clinical database.

  • The Effects of Metabolic Syndrome and Hypoglycemic Medications on Nephrolithiasis Formation

PI: Mantu Gupta, Icahn Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, NY

Analyzed granular data of 24-hour urinary parameters, co-morbidities, and medication usage to examine the effects of insulin resistance and the medications used to combat it on promoting and inhibiting stone formation.
