Jeff Xu, M.D., F.A.S.A., is a board-certified anesthesiologist and chief of the Division of Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Management, which he established at Westchester Medical Center (WMC) in 2015. Dr. Xu has been pivotal in the education of anesthesia residents and the evolution of clinical policies at WMC. In 2016, he founded the Regional Anesthesiology and Acute Pain Medicine Fellowship Program and served as the program director until 2024.

Before he joined WMC, he was the director of Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Services at Riverside Regional Medical Center (RRMC), VA. Through his development of the Acute Pain Service and his time as chairman of the Multidisciplinary Acute Pain Managing Committee, Dr. Xu dramatically increased the HCAHPS pain management satisfaction score from ~50% to 72% at RRMC.

Dr. Xu also has many roles outside of the WMC community, including as a committee member on the Educational Track Subcommittee of Regional Anesthesia for the American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA); Practice Management and CME Committee for the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (ASRA), and Pain Management Committee for the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists (NYSSA), as well as serving as vice chair of the Persistent Perioperative Pain Special Interests Group in ASRA. He was a Steering Committee member on the International Standardizing Nomenclature for Regional Anesthesia project. He also serves as the editor and reviewer for PubMed-indexed journals and has been a faculty speaker at ASA, ASRA and PGA national and international meetings and annual conferences.

Dr. Xu is an active member of the research community with many publications in the field of regional anesthesia and acute pain medicine. His clinical research Interests are regional anesthesia and perioperative pain management.
