New York Medical College’s Center for Disaster Medicine Hosts Pediatric Focused Disaster Response Training

Valhalla, New York – On December 18 and 19, more than 75 Westchester community members participated in a two-day course at New York Medical College (NYMC), Pediatric Disaster Response and Emergency Preparedness, in order to effectively learn how to address the specific needs of pediatric patients in the event of a community incident. The latest course developed by the NYMC’s Center for Disaster Medicine taught participants to recognize and address issues specific to the pediatric population that can occur during disaster events.


New York Medical College’s Center for Disaster Medicine Brings Mass Casualty Triage Training to Western New York at Kaleida Health

Valhalla, N.Y. – On November 26, emergency department clinicians and other medical professionals from Kaleida Health and other healthcare facilities in the Western New York region participated in an eight-hour Principles and Application of Mass Casualty course hosted by Kaleida Health and Finger Lakes Regional Resource and Training Center. Taught by faculty of New York Medical College’s (NYMC’s) Center for Disaster Medicine (CDM), the course was designed to refresh the knowledge of medical professionals responsible for the initial triage of victims following a mass casualty incident.


New York Medical College Opens Family Health Center to Provide Primary Care to Community Members

Valhalla, NY, – New York Medical College (NYMC) celebrated a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, November 6 to mark the opening of its new Family Health Center, an outpatient faculty practice, open to the surrounding community and members of NYMC. Located in the same building as the Touro College of Dental Medicine (TCDM) at NYMC, the new health care center provides same day or walk-in appointments on Monday through Friday. By co-locating the two community-focused healthcare services, NYMC and TCDM created an integration of oral health with primary care—enriching education opportunities for the dental and medical students, improving patient outcomes and promoting the new model of dental health which recognizes the important link between dental and primary health.


Bioinc@NYMC Celebrates Grand Opening of Expanded Space and Five-Year Anniversary with State and Local Leaders

Valhalla, NY – BioInc@NYMC, the fully-equipped biotechnology incubator, located on the New York Medical College (NYMC) campus in the mid-Hudson Valley, held a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, October 30 to celebrate its major expansion and mark the incubator’s five-year anniversary. New York State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart Cousins, Westchester County Executive George S. Latimer and New York State Assembly Member Thomas Abinanti attended the ribbon cutting alongside NYMC leadership and community members.

New York Medical College Awarded $450,000 to Expand BioInc@NYMC Facility and Center for Disaster Medicine

Valhalla, New York –New York Medical College (NYMC) has been awarded $450,000 from New York State for the expansion and improvement of both BioInc@NYMC, NYMC’s biotechnology incubator, a designated New York State Innovation HotSpot, and the Center for Disaster Medicine, the College’s research and training center that has been preparing medical responders to be disaster-ready at a moment’s notice for the past 13 years. NYMC was one of only four Hudson Valley-based colleges, and one of 35 colleges and universities in New York to receive the grant aimed at supporting infrastructure improvements at New York’s private, not-for-profit colleges and universities.


Dribble For The Cure Returns to St. John’s University on Saturday, September 21, 2019

Yancopoulos, M.D., Ph.D., will deliver the Commencement address to the New York Medical College (NYMC) Class of 2019 at New York Medical College's 160th Commencement exercises on May 22 at 5:00 p.m. at Carnegie Hall in New York City. NYMC will award 414 degrees in total including 200 doctor of medicine (M.D.) degrees, 42 doctor of physical therapy (D.P.T.) degrees, eight doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees, 74 master of science (M.S.) degrees, 84 master of public health (M.P.H.) degrees and 6 doctor of public health (Dr.P.H.) degrees to the Class of 2019.
